Gasquet, Tsonga, …

June 5, 2008

We at last have who is, in my humble opinion, the best of the new breed of exciting, talented young French newbies… Gael Monfils. He can go the distance, really, I think. Not in this tournament, Nadal will win, but later, yes.

Safina

June 5, 2008

Can she do a Safin? Safin did it twice. I think she can. Both she hand Kuznetsova have games notsuited for clay, and Safina certainly has a lot of firepower. But Kuznetsova can move, remember. And I am sure Ana and Jelena (i like both of whom a lot), will be too tired by the end of their match (which i think Jankovic will win) to put up a challenge in the finals.

BTW, has it ever happened earlier? And I always thought Michaella Krajicek will have a chance some day…. and never Safina.

Men’s prediction later….

The two best names in men’s tennis

May 31, 2008

1. Stanislas Wawrinka! And what a fascinating nickname too… ‘The Swiss who loses’! Well he is in the top 10, so he does not lose often for sure….

2. Ernests Gulbis! Two plurals in the same name? And from Latvia too!

And both are doing surprisingly well in the red clay of the Roland Garros…

(p.s. Paul-Henri Matthieu comes in third, if for anything, the way the name is pronounced. Puu-Onri-Ma-too… Hmm, the French!)
